2008 Sangiovese Reserve – an Excellent Wine for Paso Robles Spring Wine Tasting

Late Spring Leads To Elegant, Gradually-Ripened Grapes and Great Paso Robles Wine Tasting!

The 2008 vintage was our second consecutive drought vintage here in Paso Robles. A late spring and moderate summer produced gradual ripening, with low yields, and cool-climate characteristics. Yields were down due to shatter, small cluster sets and, in some cases, because of the early spring frost; however, we are pleased with the deep colors, variety of flavors, nice balance, elegant style, and rarity of the wines.

Subtle Citrus Essence Found When Tasting This Wine

Aromas of cinnamon, blueberry and floral hints of violet are captured in the glass. This Italian varietal is a smooth, silky, fruit forward elegant wine with plum, toasted oak and a subtle essence of orange rind leading to an acidic, dry finish. A perfect spring wine tasting experience.

An Italian Favorite Comes to Paso Robles Wine Tasting Rooms

Brunello is a clone of Sangiovese, which is a red Italian wine produced in the vineyards surrounding the town of Montalcino located south of Florence in the Tuscany wine region. Brunello, the signature wine of Tuscany, holds a special place in the hearts of Italian wine aficionados. The Brunello clone has been considered an elite wine, scarce and expensive, and is made by just a handful of boutique producers. Hearthstone has 1 acre of Brunello clone sangiovese planted in our Paso Robles vineyard, to produce this exceptional, rare wine.
