Tasting our Paso Robles 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

An Ideal Paso Robles Growing Season

The 2009 Paso Robles growing season began with an early bud break, due to extremely warm spring temperatures. An early April frost reduced yields and contributed to small berries and clusters. A warm consistent summer and moderate fall allowed us to pick based on flavor profile and peak ripeness. Despite a fierce rainstorm on October 13th, which dropped over 7 inches of rain, the grapes retained great concentration and flavor. The low yields and gradual ripening resulted in great tasting wines with an appealing lushness, rich texture and flavor profile and gentle minerality.

Tasting our Wine

Layers of caramel, vanilla, and eucalyptus in the nose and has a full bodied jammnesse, which hint toward black cherries and blackberries fruit which are complex and elegant. Creamy laced oak, black currant and anise lead into a finish of firm tannins – perfect for a Paso Robles afternoon.

Our Paso Robles winemaker can’t wait to give this one a try

I am very proud of this 100% Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon and it will cellar until 2022 if you can stand to wait! Tannic compounds, found in the skins and seeds of grapes, lend an agreeable astringency (that “pucker” sensation) to wine. Tannins slow the oxidation process, allowing for Suggest Retail: $40.00 greater aging potential. Cellaring wine allows the qualities of the tannin in the wine to mellow and blend harmoniously with the other characteristics of the wine.
